Installation Notes
If you have received this file as FTTL50.ZIP and/or FTTLDOC.ZIP you need
to have unzipped these files in order to install the system.
If you have received this package on a floppy disk or CD ROM the files
may have already been unzipped.
To get to the point where you can install the system you must have, either
on a floppy disk or in a temporary directory on your hard disk the files
listed in PACKING.LST. The system is incomplete and invalid if any of
the files listed in PACKING.LST are missing.
If all you can see are files like FTTLV500.ZIP and/or FTTLDOC.ZIP or
FTTL50.ZIP please unzip these into a temporary directory on your hard disk,
check that all the files contained in PACKING.LST are there and then run
INSTALL.EXE to properly install the system in a working directory on your hard
disk.
Alternatively put the floppy disk in drive A:, log onto that drive, and
type INSTALL, then press ENTER and follow the instructions on screen.
Remember, you need to unzip any ZIP files first before trying to install
the system. The installation routines do not use any ZIP files.
Please answer YES (Y) to all the questions during the installation routine.
If this is the first time you have installed this system you also need to
check the following:
1. The CONFIG.SYS file in your root directory must at least contain the lines:
FILES=99
BUFFERS=30
2. The AUTOEXEC.BAT file in your root directory must contain at least the line:
SET CLIPPER=F99 (notice no spaces either side of the = sign)
If you have a RAM disk you can change the above line to read:
SET CLIPPER=F99;SWAPPATH "x:\"
where x is the drive letter of your ram disk. The system will then use this for
temporary storage which can considerably speed things up.
* THE INSTALATION PROGRAM SHOULD HAVE DONE ALL THIS FOR YOU *
If you are running the system on a network be sure to make the above
amendments to the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files on ALL workstations
To run the system change to the directory in which it was installed and enter
the name of the program.
A full help file can be obtained by pressing F1
The initial password (if any) is "hjs". Please change this as soon as possible.
Check through SYSTEM - SYSTEM SETTINGS and SYSTEM - PRINTER SETTINGS that
the appropriate settings have been put into place for your configuration.
If this is an upgrade the above have probably already been done - your
existing data will be retained.
